About this policy
This policy explains how Namechan at namechan.com handles information when you use our domain availability checker, domain name generator, and account features.
Account information and Google sign-in
When you create an account, we process your name, email address, profile image if provided, and account identifiers. If you choose Google sign-in where available, we request only basic identity permissions (openid, email, and profile). We use the Google account identifier, name, email, email verification status, and profile image to authenticate you, create or link your account, and maintain your session. Authentication records may include OAuth tokens and their expiration times. We do not request access to Gmail, Google Drive, contacts, or calendars, and we do not receive your Google password.
Domain queries and technical information
We process the domain names and search inputs you submit to return availability, WHOIS, and pricing results. Query logs can include queried domains, provider names, timestamps, response times, result status, error details, a masked IP address, an IP-derived hash, and referral source. Authentication sessions may separately record your IP address and browser user agent. Hosting and security providers may process connection and request information to operate and protect the service.
Cookies, local storage, and analytics
We use cookies for authentication, session management, and security. Browser storage remembers preferences such as your theme and selected domain extensions. When enabled, Umami analytics helps us understand site usage and referrals. Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which receives the network information needed to deliver those fonts. You can manage cookies and local storage through your browser; blocking authentication cookies may prevent sign-in.
How information is used and shared
We use information to provide search and account features, troubleshoot errors, understand service usage, respond to support requests, and prevent abuse. Infrastructure providers, including Cloudflare and our database provider, process information needed to run the service. Submitted domain queries are sent to configured WHOIS services and domain pricing providers such as Name.com and Spaceship. Google processes your authentication request if you choose Google sign-in. External websites you visit through our links handle data under their own policies. We do not sell Google user data or use it for advertising. Information may also be disclosed when required by applicable law or necessary to address abuse and protect the service.
Retention and security
Account information is retained while needed to provide your account. Session and authentication records are retained as needed for sign-in and security; operational logs are retained as needed for troubleshooting and abuse prevention. Information may be retained longer when necessary to meet legal obligations or resolve disputes. We use access controls and secure connections to protect information, but no system can guarantee absolute security. Service providers may process information in countries other than your own.
Your choices and deletion requests
You can contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account and associated personal information. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. You can revoke Namechan access in the third-party connections section of your Google Account. Revoking Google access does not automatically delete information already stored by Namechan; contact us for deletion. We will handle requests in accordance with applicable law and explain any information we need to retain.
Children and policy changes
Namechan is not directed to children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information. We may update this policy as the service changes and will show the updated date on this page. Material changes to the use of Google data will be disclosed before that new use, with consent where required.
